1. Overview

SitSense ("we," "us," "our") is a posture coach. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It covers the web app at sitsense.app and the SitSense browser extension.

By creating an account or using SitSense, you agree to this policy.

2. What we collect

A. Posture data

Your camera feed is analysed in your browser. From it we store numerical posture measurements:

  • neck angle
  • craniovertebral angle
  • trunk angle
  • head-forward distance
  • head tilt
  • shoulder slope
  • neck rotation

With each reading we also store a posture rating (good, fair, or poor) and measurement metadata: the software versions in use, the thresholds applied, and whether the reading was reliable. This metadata contains no personal information.

No video, images, camera frames, or body landmarks ever leave your device.

B. Account information

  • Email address
  • Password (hashed) or OAuth identity
  • Display name
  • Subscription and billing status

C. Onboarding answers

When you start, we ask a few questions: what you want to improve, where you feel pain or tension (if you choose to share it), how you rate your own posture, how many hours you sit, what you have tried before, and how you heard about us.

We use these answers to adjust your posture thresholds and personalise the experience. They are linked to your account and deleted with it.

D. Usage data

We record your sessions and in-app activity, linked to your account, so your history and progress work.

Through PostHog, our analytics provider, we also collect page views, crash reports, and any feedback you submit through the in-app survey. If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog links your visit history to your account (by an internal ID, never your email) and may record your screen on the sign-up, sign-in, and app pages to help us fix confusing flows. Anything you type is always masked in these recordings. If you decline, there is no recording, no cookie, and no cross-visit identity.

E. Questions you ask in-app

If you ask a question inside the app, we keep the text of that question, linked to your account, to improve our answers. We do not store the replies, and the conversation disappears when you close it. On a paid plan, replies are written by OpenAI (see section 4).

F. If you ask us to email you a desktop link

SitSense needs a computer with a webcam. If you open it on a phone, you can ask us to email you the link for later. That request is not a signup: no account is created, you join no mailing list, and we send exactly one message per address per day.

For each request we keep your email address, which link you asked for, the page you came from, when you asked, whether the message was delivered, and whether the link was later opened on a computer. The link stops working after seven days, and we delete these records after 90 days. Delivery and bounce records, and billing records, are kept longer because mail and the law require it.

These records exist to send you the link you asked for, nothing else. The address is never used for marketing and never sent to our analytics provider.

3. Cookies

We set three kinds of cookies:

  • A first-party cookie that remembers the first page you landed on, the referrer, and any campaign tags, for 90 days. If you sign up, it is saved to your account so we know which page brought you. It is not readable by scripts and is never used for advertising.
  • A cookie that remembers your cookie choices.
  • Analytics cookies from PostHog and Google Analytics, set only after you accept them. If you decline, we still count page views, but without cookies and without cross-visit identity.

4. Third-party services

We do not sell your data. These services process it only to run SitSense:

  • PostHog (analytics): page views, in-app events, crash reports, feedback, and the consent-gated screen recordings described above.
  • Google Analytics: page views, only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • OpenAI (paid chat only): your chat messages, your display name, and a numerical summary of your posture history are sent to OpenAI to write replies. Never video, and never your email address.
  • Stripe (payments): billing details. We never see your full card number.
  • Resend (email): delivers the emails we send you.
  • Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database): run our infrastructure.

5. How we use your data

  • Provide real-time posture feedback, session summaries, and historical trends.
  • Improve the product and fix bugs.
  • Train models on anonymised, aggregated posture metrics. Never on video, images, or anything identifiable.
  • Email you. We send at most one email per day, total. Marketing only if you opt in.

6. Security

  • All pose estimation happens in your browser. Only the data described above reaches our servers.
  • Data is encrypted in transit.
  • Access to account data is limited to essential personnel.

7. The browser extension

The SitSense extension runs entirely on your device. It has no account, no analytics, and it sends nothing to our servers. Your daily stats and settings are stored in your browser's extension storage, and notifications are generated locally.

Its only network use is downloading the pose model files from a content delivery network. Those downloads carry no data about you.

8. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Desktop link requests are deleted after 90 days.

You can ask us to delete your account, your posture history, or both at any time. Deletion is permanent. You can also request a copy of your posture history.

Email support@sitsense.app for either.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have the right to access, delete, correct, restrict, or export your data, and to object to automated processing. We honour all applicable privacy rights. Contact support@sitsense.app to exercise them.

10. Children

SitSense is not intended for individuals under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If changes materially affect your rights, we will notify you by email or in the app. The latest version is always at sitsense.app/privacy.

12. Contact

Questions or requests about your data: email support@sitsense.app.
